FAQs

Will I Feel Anything During Gamma Knife Treatment?

You won’t feel anything from the treatment itself. If a head frame is used, you might experience mild discomfort from the local anesthesia administered during its placement, similar to the sensation of having blood drawn. Some patients report feeling a pressure sensation or slight discomfort when the frame is applied.

What Can I Expect After Gamma Knife Treatment?

Once your treatment is complete, the head frame or face mask will be removed. If a frame was used, there may be slight bleeding at the pin contact points on your head, but this can be easily managed with bandages. You are advised to avoid physical activity for the first 18 to 24 hours, after which you can resume your regular daily activities.

How Quickly Will Gamma Knife Treatment Work?

Depending on the condition being treated, Gamma Knife radiosurgery will gradually take effect gradually, typically over a period of several weeks to years.
